Who is Anthony Key? Meet 'American Idol' contestant whose original song was once sung by Blackpink member
Anthony Key didn't just try to show off his singing during his 'American Idol' auditions but also tried to present a whole experience to the judges by throwing in a bit of choreography while at it.
He sang BTS's song 'Dynamite' and even though the judges seemed to have fun watching him perform with his shiny gold boots on, it wasn't enough for him to earn the much-coveted golden ticket. But he did get a chance to teach all of them a self-choreographed routine that they enjoyed.
A video package featuring Anthony talking about how much he enjoys being a pop star of sorts and making girls scream and cheer for him while he performs played out before his audition played out. Dressed in white attire from top to bottom, gold accessories and golden highlights in his hair, it was clear that Anthony was trying to pull off a K-pop-inspired look while performing the popular song from the genre. However, he couldn't advance to the next level because of a lack of originality as an artist.

Who is Anthony Key on 'American Idol'?
Anthony Key is a 27-year-old DJ from Merrillville, Indiana. He also goes by the moniker 'Popstar Anthony'. He spoke about his touring days as a pop singer in the video package. "I want to be a light to the world through my performance," the Instagram bio of this pop singer and dancer reads.
Anthony has released a song titled 'Key to My Heart' that is available on his Instagram feed as well as on his Youtube channel. "I am a singer, dancer, songwriter and overall a musician who aspires to become a Pop Music artist. With your help, you can make this dream come true! And I will forever have you to thank for it... yes, you! The Key To My Heart!" he writes in the bio of his channel.

Anthony has a video up on his YouTube channel that boasts of 1.5K subscribers. A year ago, he uploaded a video to his channel that he shot at the airport while waiting for Blackpink members along with other fans. He was able to catch their attention and ask each member to sing his song and he succeeded in getting one of them to do so after which he was super elated. Watch the video below.
Why did 'American Idol' judges not give a golden ticket to Anthony Key?
Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were of the opinion that despite Anthony being made for the world of entertainment, his true strength lied with choreography and not much as a lead vocalist. Katy Perry, on the other hand, said, "It's obvious that you have people you look up to from the boybands to BTS, you are a part of that army. I think you have studied all of them and you have become a melting point of all of that and I don't really know who you are exactly in that mix."
Anthony is not going to Hollywood but in his exit interview, he made it clear that three celebrities rejecting him wasn't going to affect his musical career which he had no plans of abandoning.
