How does Kang get to the Quantum Realm?
To understand this, let’s head back into the past and get to know what happened. So, Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) was trapped inside the Quantum Realm and felt that she was only stuck inside this universe. However, one day, a man arrives in his hi-tech spaceship and tells Janet that he is a scientist who got stuck in the realm and asked her to help him in fixing his multiverse ship so that they can return to their respective worlds. They become friends and do the unthinkable by fixing the ship’s core. The ship is connected to Kang’s brain and he has control of the entire craft now. However, Janet, unknowingly, reads the mind of Kang and understands that he is actually a conqueror who destroys worlds and timelines, putting everything in jeopardy. She also learns that Kang was actually exiled to the Quantum Realm so that he could never return to the real world and wreak havoc.
Janet always wanted to go home, but she knew if Kang also came back with her, he would destroy a lot of timelines once again. So, she fights back and tries to take control of the Multiverse Core. Soon, Janet finds out that Kang is too powerful for her and uses the Pym particles to make it so big that it becomes impossible to use. In the end, Janet stays inside the Quantum Realm for decades and becomes a freedom fighter who leads the native people of the Quantum Realm against Kang. But the villain has grown stronger and built an empire for himself in the aforementioned universe.
Will Scott help Kang in finding the Multiverse Core?
It all begins with Cassie building a satellite to explore the Quantum Realm and she decides to send a signal received by MODOK, The Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. After a few moments, we realize that MODOK is actually Darren Cross (Corey Stroll), the villain in the first ‘Ant-Man’ movie. It is believed that Darren was sucked into Quantum Realm after being defeated and became MODOK. Kang finds him and decides to use him as the perfect weapon. When MODOK receives Cassie’s signal, he makes the decision of bringing the entire Lang family into the realm because he knows that they might be effective in recovering the multiverse core.
Kang and Scott finally meet in the realm and Kang asks him to help in recovering the core and if he doesn’t, he would kill Cassie. Scott agrees to do that and tells Cassie that he will come back. To accomplish this feat, Scott would have to shrink and reach the center of the core, walking down the probability field. As soon as he starts walking, the probability field creates numerous versions of Scott and it becomes impossible for him to complete the task, but at the end of the day, he wants to do this for his daughter and every other version of Scott understands that and they end up helping him. With the help of Wasp and other versions of him, Scott manages to compress the multiverse core to its original form.
Janet tells him that he can’t give this to Kang or else he’ll wreak havoc. Kang takes the core forcefully and attacks Scott and Hope. On the other hand, he kidnaps Janet and takes her away to Kang’s citadel where Cassie is also trapped. When we thought that our heroes are down and out, Hank comes in and helps the group by taking assistance from ants. Due to some malfunction, ants lived thousands of years in a single instance and became so advanced that humans don’t even know about their technology. So, they stitch a plan to take down Kang. Scott grows bigger than ever and is ready to attack Kang’s empire.
Did Kang get out of the Quantum Realm?
The movie’s third act starts with Scott attacking Kang’s citadel, along with Hope. Meanwhile, Cassie manages to escape captivity and takes all the freedom fighters with him as well. She manages to get inside the control room and broadcasts a message to the native people of the realm to fight against Kang. The plan worked and a fight takes place between the good and the bad.
However, Kang is not happy with what has happened and orders MODOK to kill her. As MODOK tries killing her, he gets badly injured due to some scathing attacks by Cassie. Meanwhile, Kang tries to launch the ship, but Scott, with help from the people of Quantum Realm, manages to destroy the ring and that’s when Kang enters the fight. He destroys all the competition that comes in front of him without breaking a sweat. Once again, everyone thought that Kang would kill everyone and get out of the realm, but Hank arrives at the right time with an army of highly advanced and gigantic ants that forces Kang to use the energy field.
However, MODOK arrives and uses his body to destroy the energy field and allowing the ants to rip Kang’s armor. While doing so, they drag him away from the scene.
In the concluding moments, Janet manages to find a way to reach home and they are entering their world when Kang arrives and attacks. Before the attack, Scott pushes his daughter into their home world and a fight takes place between Kang and Scott. Kang beats the s**t out of Scott and says that “he will win.” But Scott replies that he is not thinking of winning here, and manages to free himself from Kang’s clutches. The antagonist was going to attack Scott once again when Hope arrives and saves him. They get together to push Kang toward the core and by mistake, the core breaks. It pulls Kang inside and the core breaks into different pieces.
Kang dies apparently and the entire Lang family, along with Hope, celebrate Cassie’s “fake birthday” when they get back. Everything seemed fine but the post-credit scenes make us believe that “Kang Will Return.”
