Major spoilers for 'Anne with an E' Season 3 Episode 6 ahead

Avonlea is hosting the Island County Fair, and it is everything you would expect out of it.  From fortune tellers to the giant and unusual vegetable competitions, Avonlea had it all.

The fair, which becomes the entire focus on 'Anne with an E' Season 3 Episode 6 turned out to be the perfect setting for some love, romance, and heartbreak for Anne (Amybeth Cuthbert).

We have seen Anne fiddling with the idea of being in love with Gilbert (Lucas Jade Zumann) for a while now, and just when she thought she is ready to accept those feelings, she sees that the man of her dreams is courting another woman, who in her eyes is infinitely more sophisticated and beautiful.

While we have seen Gilbert himself considering if he is in love with Anne, he has come to see Winifred (Ashleigh Stewart) as a very good match for him, logically speaking.

She is extremely witty, beautiful, wealthy, and most importantly, her parents are supportive of his dreams of becoming a doctor and are capable of sending him to Sorbonne Université.

And yet, we see that he does have some hesitations, especially when it comes to proposing to her. He is not sure if he is ready for forever with Winifred.

Meanwhile, Anne is experiencing heartbreak for the first time, truly experiencing the pains of unrequited love that she had hugely romanticized. We still see her trying to have a good time with her friends, especially Diana (Dalila Bela), who is developing a love story of her own with Jerry (Aymeric Jett Montaz).

In fact, all the hormonal teenagers are trying to sneak in some alone time with the objects of their desires, including Billy (Christian Martyn) and Josie (Miranda McKeon), whose marriage has been more or less fixed by the elders.

However, Josie is not ready when Billy asks her to sneak out and get intimate with him physically, and when she runs back into the dance floor where all her friends are, she is met with rumors about having titillated Billy into going out in the first place.

Never to stay quiet in the face of injustice, we see Anne jumping up and demanding that Billy own up to his crime, but things turn chaotic and Josie runs away.

Even in the darkest moments of heartbreak, Anne refuses to stay mum in the face of injustice and that is what makes her a hero of our times as well as her own.

When the rest of the town and even her classmates refuse to listen to her, Anne writes a scathing article about what actually happened at the fair, and why everyone needs to stand up for what is right.

What will happen when the town reads it? That remains to be seen in Episode 7 of the series. All of 'Anne with an E' Season 3 is available to binge-watch on Netflix.
