LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The woman who reportedly killed Kirstie Alley's mother in 1981 in a car crash begged to meet the late actress years before her death at 71. Cherrie White, who crashed into Alley's parents' car while driving drunk, requested to meet the 'Cheer' star years before her death, however, the actress declined to do so. "That night is always on my mind and I'm so sorry for what happened," White revealed in 2019, adding, "I wish I could go back and change everything, but I cannot."
According to RadarOnline, the accident occurred on October 23, 1981, when White hit Alley's parents' car while she was on her way home from work at the Boeing aircraft plant in Wichita, Kansas, following a messy divorce. The star's mother, Lillian Maxine, also known as "Mickie", was thrown out of the vehicle and died. Her father Bob was badly injured but later recovered.

According to court documents, White was given a year in the county jail and rehabilitation after entering a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of vehicular murder. Later, when a third party enquired about a meeting with White, Alley declined.
White, a retired woman who disclosed she was sober now and residing in Arlington, Texas, said, "I can understand why Kirstie doesn't want to talk to me. She also shared what she would have told Alley if given the opportunity. "But if she changed her mind," White stated, adding, "I would tell Kirstie and her father how truly sorry I am for what happened that night and the pain that I caused them."
Alley, who was diagnosed with colon cancer, died on Monday, December 5, 2022, after a brief battle with the disease. The star's children took to Twitter to announce the 71-year-old actress' death. "We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered," the statement read. "She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead," the statement added.
"As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother. We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care. Our mother's zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did," Alley's two children said in the statement.
The statement ended with, "We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time. With love always, True and Lillie Parker."
