INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA: A heartbroken mother has opened up on her experience after her 1-year-old daughter was killed by her father. According to the Inglewood Police Department, Jayveyon Burley, 22, was detained after officials recovered his dead daughter, Leilani, in the Los Angeles River beneath the Ocean Boulevard Bridge. At 11 pm on Sunday, December 4, Burley's mother, with whom he lives, called to report a missing person, and police soon showed up at the residence.

According to Burley's mother, he left for Long Beach to pick up his two children from their mother. However, when he came back to his Inglewood house, he only had one of the children with him. That same day, the Inglewood and Long Beach Police partnered to locate Leilani's body. According to Fox News, Lynisha Hull, the girl's mother, claimed on Instagram that Burley would not tell her where the youngster was. "Don't worry about it she's fine," he reportedly told Hull. Burley was arrested on Monday, December 5, on suspicion of murder and endangering a child. He was then taken to the Inglewood Police Department Jail after being arrested.

The California father is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, December 7, on a $215,000 bail. Lynisha Hull revealed to NBC Los Angeles that Jayveon had always been overly protective of their children and had never hurt any of them until now. Hull said her husband’s actions have left her shocked and confused. She also revealed to ABC7 on Tuesday, December 6, that the suspect typically picks the children up on Sunday evenings and returns them on Wednesday. When Burley brought up the children on Sunday, she said he was "angry" but stated "he was normal" in other respects.

“He didn’t look like he was panicked at the time at all. My daughter was murdered by her father. He threw her off the bridge,” Hull remarked. “My baby always lights up the room with her big beautiful eyes. She was so full of life. She loved music, books, she loved to dance, she loved giving high fives.” Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Inglewood homicide detectives at 310-412-5246.
