LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise are two of the biggest stars in the world right now and fans eagerly wait for their projects to arrive on the big screen. The duo worked together in the 2014s gigantic hit ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and enthralled everyone with one of the most enjoyable sci-fi movies in recent years. However, Blunt’s recent comments about Cruise forced media outlets to come forward with stories suggesting they didn’t share a good relationship with each other during the filming. However, the actress has clarified her remarks and slammed the publications for taking her comments “absurdly out of context.”

For the uninitiated, while making an appearance on the ‘SmartLess’ podcast on Monday, the ‘Sicario’ star opened up about a conversation she had with Cruise while filming ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and revealed what the actor told her when she was having a difficult day at the shoot. During the interview, Blunt noted that she was having some difficulty getting through the filming because of the 85-pound costume and Cruise motivated her in an unusual manner and said, “Come on, stop being such a p***y, OK?” Blunt didn’t feel bad about it and revealed that she “laughed” when this comment was made and they started filming again.

However, a lot of media outlets and people started slamming Cruise for cursing the actress even when she was going through such a rough time. The matter became so big that Blunt has now released a statement slamming the publications that took her comments in the most “absurd” way ever.

In a statement given to People Magazine, the comments made by ‘The English’ star were “taken literally and absurdly out of context” by some media outlets and fans. Blunt also shared that she “adores” Tom Cruise and he said those words only to “make her laugh.” She added, “It's ludicrous that it's being spun as something that offended me. It didn't. I shared the story as light-heartedly as it was meant by Tom. And it's still something we laugh about to this day.”

This is not the first time Blunt opened up about the difficulties she faced while filming ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and the injuries she endured on her ribs and collarbone while doing the stunts in the action flick.

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ turned out to be a huge hit for both stars and received universal acclaim from critics as well as audiences. The movie was a commercial success as well earning more than $370 million globally and garnered praise for the plot, direction, action sequences, and performances.

There were a lot of talks of a sequel and it was revealed that Blunt and Cruise will return for the second movie. However, the movie hasn’t gone into production for far too long, making fans believe that it might not happen. Meanwhile, in February 2022, it was reported that Warner Bros. had been developing a television series spin-off of the film with intentions to release the show exclusively on HBO Max.

However, there’s no update for that as well.
