'American Rust' Episode 9: Virgil's warning comes a little to late for Del Harris
With Harris having murdered Bobby, Jackson and Jackson's cousin, he is now waiting for the chatter around it to die down, as he made it seems like it was no more than a shootout. However, Steve notices that certain gear is missing from the station, namely a bulletproof vest, a gun and its magazine. The DA too, noticed that the cousin had a shotgun and are now investigating if she fired the gun. While suspicion grows, the Philadelphia PD has also contacted Harris regarding Chuck.
And at this time, Issac decides to turn to town, with the murder weapon in tow. With Harris being ambushed from all sides, Virgil warns him that Grace is merely using him, however, this sound advice comes a little too late. With many unanswered questions and a cliffhanger ending, fans were not pleased with Season 1.
"Tired plot is exactly right. #AmericanRust was no #mareofeasttown. Mare was SO much better — the plot, the writing, acting, depiction of REAL people, some comic relief (thank you Jean Smart!) American Rust was a relentless slog, despair porn; the finale was one of the worst ever." tweeted a fan. "#AmericanRust I watched all this to get no end. Too much unfinished business. What a waste of eight hours." added another. "That finale of #AmericanRust leaves so many questions unanswered. Never thought there would be a second season but the way it let off, it seems like it has to happen. @Showtime" agreed a fan. "I started watching American Rust, hoping it would be like Mare of Easttown. Boy, was I wrong. What a disappointment." tweeted a user. "Dear Hollywood, No killer digs a perfect rectangle in the woods to bury their victim in. I’ve seen this too many times. I can give more tips for a small consultation fee. Call me! #AmericanRust Continuity & realism matters…" added another. "American rust finale. That’s where you leave us?? Does that mean there’s a Season 2? #AmericanRust" asked a fan.
