'American Rust' continued to crawl and impress the few faithful who tuned in religiously for the last couple of weeks to catch the Jeff Daniels-starrer. While the reviews on social media were largely mixed, there was some chatter about the latest episode that sees Billy Poe (Alex Neustaedter) being named the killer in the murder of former police officer Pete Novic (Jim True-Frost).

The rest of the episode centers around Isaac's (David Alvarez) journey to the West, and Lee's (Julia Mayorga) affair with Billy while her husband was still in New York. Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the episode. "They went too far with this episode. Great cliffhanger but I hate when implications are not enough and writers feel the need to push.

'American Rust' Episode 2 Fan Review: Showtime show has 'potential'

"Time for #AmericanRust hopefully episode 3 picks up. 2 was slow but it wasn’t terrible. Isaac please find a guy better than Billy," a fan opined.

Some felt that it was time to give the show a hard pass. "FYI, even if you love @Jeff_Daniels like I do, dont waste your time watching #AmericanRust on @Showtime Its a love letter to MAGA & is all in on the media driven so called “Economic Anxiety” BS that gave us Trump. Hard pass!!" There were contrasting views by one section of the audience as well. "Trying #AmericanRust it got more interesting after the 1st episode. It’s sorta unfair tv shows have to be all the things on episode 1. But that’s our current reality."

"I really want to like #AmericanRust, but I’m having trouble staying interested. Just me?" a fan remarked. 'American Rust' had their faithful still gunning for the show. "I may be watching too many shows right now. However, I absolutely love @Jeff_Daniels & #mauratierney so I had to add #americanrust today! I’m caught up & it’s GOOD!"
