‘American Idol’ Season 22 fans call Roman Collin’s version of Katy Perry’s hit ‘Roar’ ‘terrible’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Before his performance on 'American Idol' Season 22, Roman Collins received guidance from mentor Meghan Trainor. She acknowledged the challenge of taking on a Katy Perry song and expressed her understanding of Roman's nerves regarding the risky move.
Despite Meghan's encouragement, fans of the show were less than impressed with Roman's rendition of Katy Perry's iconic hit "Roar". Many took to social media to voice their disappointment, describing Roman's performance as "terrible" and noting that he didn't sound good at all.
Despite the criticism from fans, mentor Meghan thought Roman was 'brave and cool' for taking on Perry's hit song. However, the internet had different reactions. "Roman Collins #AmericanIdol I’m sorry but I think that was terrible!!! I wanted to like what you did tonight, but it was not good!," a user wrote on X. "Roman is still too church-y for me, sorry," added another fan.

Even with his last performance, fans remained unhappy with Roman's song choice and singing style, as he decided to tackle "You're All I Need to Get By" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
"He’s meant to do gospel albums, not pop," a fab wrote on Instagram. Another fan wrote, "I love Roman and I really liked the first part of the song. But the second part was not the same song. I hope he gets through." One fan said, "I swear this song is Soul & Motown, not Rock and Roll." "This was the least favorite of his performances," noted another fan.
