'American Idol' Top 10: Emyrson Flora's act slammed as 'average copycat performance'

While the 'American Idol' judges and the audience seem to have loved Emyrson's performance, sadly the same can't be said for fans

After watching 16-year-old Emyrson Flora's rendition of Billie Eilish's 'Lovely' on 'American Idol' Season 20, fans had some strong feelings about it. From slamming her vocals to her tempo, fans critiqued every aspect of her performance.

The recently aired episode of 'American Idol' featured the Top 11 contestants vying for a spot amongst the Top 10. With the help of their vocal coaches, the contestants practiced really hard to ace the songs picked for them by the show's judges. Emyrson selected 'Lovely' from the song choices given to her.  She thought that picking a Billie's song would work in her favor as the judges had previously compared her to the 'Bad Guy' singer. While the judges and the audience seem to have loved Emyrson's performance, sadly the same can't be said for fans.

Several fans took to Twitter to slam Emyrson's performance. A fan tweeted, "God please stop. she sounds like she’s choking on her throat. #AmericanIdol." "Emerson sings like she has something stuck in her throat #AmericanIdol," wrote a fan. Another fan added, "Ouch! This is hurting my ears, Emyrson. #AmericanIdol." 

Another fan shared, "Nah. Emyrson butchered that song. #AmericanIdol." "Not a fan of Emyrson don't believe she has the voice for recording a variety of songs!!#AmericanIdol," observed a fan. "Emyrson Flora sings the same slow songs every time. She needs to loosen up. #AmericanIdol move a little," suggested a fan. Another fan wondered, "Right now, I have Emyrson in trouble. Does she ever sing anything up tempo? #AmericanIdol." "Emyrson just screams karaoke to me, between the Olivia last night and Billie tonight. Just kinda an average copycat performance #AmericanIdol," pointed out a fan. Another fan commented on the YouTube clip of her performance with, "Would’ve been lovely if she can control her voice. It’s very terrible to listen to."
