‘AHS’ actress Leslie Grossman 'regrets' not throwing drink at Rand Paul, conservatives slam Twitter inaction
American Horror Story actress Leslie Grossman became the latest Hollywood star to glorify violence against conservative politicians on Twitter, without any disciplinary action from the social media platform. The Tinseltown star recently tweeted that she regrets not having physically attacked Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) after spotting him at a restaurant in Los Angeles. "Last year Rand Paul was sitting with his drunk obnoxious family 10 feet away from me at a restaurant in Los Angeles that is frequented by a lot of "liberal coastal elites" and I quietly seethed at him but didn't throw a drink in his face and now I really regret that choice," Grossman tweeted.
She later tweeted saying “I really blew it and I see that now," although it's unclear if she was referring to the ill-advised tweet. After her post started drawing media attention, Grossman made her Twitter account private.
The social media platform has notably allowed a number of left-wing Hollywood personalities to share violent fantasies against conservatives. Actress Debra Messing, who backed President Joe Biden, recently expressed on Twitter that she wanted to see former President Donald J. Trump get raped in prison.
Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin tweeted that he wanted to see a noose hanging outside a courthouse during Trump's trial for "sedition." While Messing took down her tweet, she continues to have full access to the social media platform. This week, Baldwin revealed that he's taking a voluntary sabbatical from the site.
Trump was permanently banned from Twitter earlier this month after the platform declared that then-POTUS had engaged in “glorification of violence" and thereby violated its community guidelines. While neither of the two tweets in question called for any violence, Twitter justified its ban saying Trump's tweets could potentially lead to violence. That said, Sen. Paul has been targeted by the left in the recent past. In 2017, a neighbor who disagreed with his policies viciously attacked him, fracturing his ribs in the process.
Last year, Paul and his wife were accosted by Black Lives Matter rioters as they were heading home from the White House. As we reported on August 28, Sen. Paul was surrounded by a group of protesters when he and his wife Kelly were walking back to his hotel in Washington DC from the White House after attending the Republican National Convention. At that time, videos circulated on social media showing several protesters circling Paul and his wife while chanting, "No justice, no peace" and "Say her name, Breonna Taylor." The videos also reveal the police forming a perimeter around the Pauls, and asking the protesters to "move back." The ones who gathered were mostly Black Lives Matter activists who had reportedly swarmed near the White House hoping to drown out Trump’s nomination acceptance speech. They were later seen aggressively harassing guests of which Paul became one of the victims.
Then-President Donald J. Trump called for the immediate arrest of those who attacked Paul. In a tweet on August 29, he wrote, “The thugs who accosted Senator @RandPaul and his wonderful wife, Kelly, together with those who made threats to many other people who had just attended the Republican National Convention at the White House, must be sought out and immediately arrested. Well documented evidence!”
