'American Horror Story: 1984' fan theory suggests Leslie Grossman's Margaret could be the real murderer at Camp Redwood
'American Horror Story' is all set to debut its ninth season, '1984' on September 18 but as we inch closer to the insidious horrors plaguing Camp Redwood, a little heads up about who to watch out for would be good, right? And for that, we have ardent fans of the show coming up with their own wild, but equally plausible theories about what secrets are buried in the yards of the camp that this year's anthology installment will be set around, one of them being the possibility of Camp Redwood's very own Margaret Booth being the killer Mr. Jingles.
Margret Booth, played by Leslie Grossman, is believed to be a Camp Redwood veteran, who even though not all that older to the other main characters, still bears wisdom from the yesteryears. With impeccable hair and questionable glasses, Margaret looks like the typical weirdo, easily overlooked by the opposite sex stereotype, but she does act like the classic mean blonde who would tell scary stories and folklores to her friends just to terrify the easily scared ones. And she does that the moment expected protagonist Brooke Thompson (Emma Roberts) and her friends arrive at the lakeside camp - Margaret jumps at the opportunity to freak them out by telling them about the nightmare that had befallen the venue years ago.
In her lore about the ominous serial killer who went on a murderous spree at Camp Redwood years ago, Margaret calls the killer Mr. Jingles. She talks about how the killings were blamed on him, but Reddit user Dr_Shroomin believes Margaret's recount of the story could be an elaborate lie, as they speculate that it is Margaret who is the killer. In his theory posted on the multi-blogging forum, the user explains that Margaret could have snapped from lack of acceptance from her fellow campers, and gone on a killing spree all those years ago, but was able to somehow pin the blame on Mr. Jingles - thus putting him away in the psychiatric facility where he seems to have escaped from in '1984.'
The theory claims that Margaret got away with the murders by framing Mr. Jingles and years later has now returned to quench the same murderous thirst by reopening the camp. The theory looks at Mr. Jingles in quite the positive light, painting him as a watchman who has escaped from the psych ward to stop Margaret from repeating her old massacres - hereby adding a major twist in the tale where the victim is the hunter and the hunter becomes the saviour.
'American Horror Story: 1984' premiers on September 18, at 9 pm, only on FX.
