Amanda Knox's husband Christopher Robinson has fired back at Meredith Kercher’s killer Rudy Guede after he appeared to blame the author for the British student’s death. Guede, who was sentenced to 13 years in jail after being convicted of raping and killing Kercher, was given an early release on November 23. After coming out of jail, he gave his first interview to The Sun, where he still denied murdering Kercher.

He also pointed fingers at Knox and her then-lover Rafaelle Sollecito for the killing of Kercher, who was found dead at the age of 21 in Perugia, Italy, in 2007. Reports from that time also stated that she was sexually assaulted. Guede told The Sun on Sunday, “The court convicted me of being an accessory to murder purely because my DNA was there but the (legal) documents say others were there and that I did not inflict the fatal wounds.”

When asked whether he was talking about Knox and Sollecito — who spent four years behind bars for the crime before being freed of charges in 2015 — Guede said: “I don’t want to say anything other than she should read the documents. As I told you, they say others were there and that I did not inflict the stab wounds. I know the truth and she knows the truth.”

The convicted felon also sympathized with Kercher’s family as he stated: “The first thing I want to say is to the Kercher family and how sorry I am for their loss. I have written a letter to them in which I explain to them how sorry I am but it’s too late to say sorry for not doing enough to save Meredith. The court accepted that I tried to save her by putting towels on her wounds.”

Who is Amanda Knox's husband?

Christopher Robinson who is also an author and a Boston University and Hunter College MFA graduate, hit back at Guede as he tweeted while replying to @NickPisa who shared The Sun article, “Leave it to @NickPisa, who made his career off of vilifying @amandaknox, to give a platform to and amplify the lies of Rudy Guede, who without a doubt killed Meredith Kercher. This is cruel to Amanda as well as the Kercher family. All for a few clicks. Shame.”

In another tweet, he added: “I thought we were done vilifying @amandaknox . Apparently not. @NickSquires1 goes out of his way to slander her. Do better. Learn about coercive interrogations & false confessions (which happen in 1 in 4 proven DNA wrongful convictions). Stop blaming her for police misconduct.”

Though Knox did not directly say anything to Guede, she retweeted her husband’s tweet. Besides, people on Twitter also expressed their views over the whole drama. A user tweeted, “Wow, that whole ‘Guede just wants to go work quietly in a library and forget all this ever happened’ thing lasted long I see.” Another one said, “If Guede won't even admit to his crime, let alone show sorrow for what he has done how can he be rehabilitated enough to be released from prison early?”

But a person slammed Knox and her husband by saying: “Funny, you say nothing of the lies that Amanda Knox was caught in when she accused Patrick Lumumba of killing Kercher, a lie she would've stuck by had his customers not confirmed his presence at his bar at the time in question. Stop defending Knox, she's a murderer.”
