Alysha Duran shooting: Support grows for officer N Adams after bodycam footage shows he 'tried everything'
WESTMINSTER, COLORADO: Alysha Duran was shot dead by an officer after she allegedly reached out for a gun as the police officer tried to ask her a few questions.
The 46-year-old had parked her silver SUV in the opposite lane, facing another vehicle on 88th Avenue at Lamar Drive.
As many debate whether it was the right decision by the officer who is currently identified as N Adams to fire shots, online support has grown after the bodycam footage was released.
''After several attempts to speak with the driver, she produced a handgun,'' Westminster Police said in a statement with footage released.
How did Westminster Police Department (WPD) react to the shooting?
The department, in its official statement, acknowledged the strong impact it had in general. ''We understand incidents of this nature deeply affect our citizens, family members, and employees," the statement said.
''We understand the concerns that arise after an officer-involved shooting. It is important to remember these situations are complex and often involve tough-split-second decisions made by our officers,’' it continued as reported by Daily Mail.
The officer, N Adams, noticed Alysha's movement inside the car. ''What have you got in there? What have you got in there? Oh f**k,'' the officer can be heard screaming after discovering the firearm. Later, he fired at Alysha Duran.
What did netizens say on Alysha Duran's shooting?
Several people reacted to the incident that took place on July 25,l after the shooting footage was out. One wrote, “I think that woman must have been going through personal matters enough get her into depression. For a moment she looked really depressed and purposely reached out for her gun knowing what's gonna happen. She might have wanted to leave if you know what I mean.”
A second one tweeted, "Divided??? I have seen almost zero saying it wasn't justified." A user suggested it was planned death by the woman.
“This was a case of suicide by cop. Miss Duran probably knew the cop would fire if she produced a weapon. She baited him in, and perished as planned.”
One user couldn't form an opinion. He wrote, "I can't really tell much from this bc we can't see what she's doing as he's saying she has a gun. She was acting strangely."
"If she actually had a gun, then yeah. Wonder if she was like having a stroke or what," wrote another.
A netizen weighed in calling it fair move by the cop, "She was non responsive and going for a gun. Damn right justified."

This was a case of suicide by cop. Miss Duran probably knew the cop would fire if she produced a weapon. She baited him in, and perished as planned. But miss Owen, using Mr. Floyd's death by officers were out of context with this story thus unnecessary and irrelevant. Shameful.
