DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Alona White, a woman from Detroit, died five days after giving birth and was ‘perfectly fine,’ according to the family. The 25-year-old mother-of-two was taken in for a scheduled C-section procedure at a hospital on Tuesday, March 7, and the operation was successful as she gave birth to her second daughter Ari. White and her husband welcomed the baby in the afternoon and it all seemed normal until she started complaining of a headache. Even before a nurse could arrive, she lost consciousness and was found unresponsive.

"She was excited. We went from being joyful to devastated," Katina Ponder, the heartbroken mother of Alona told Fox2. “She went down for a CT scan and that's when they saw like a really large massive bleeding on the left side of her brain." Ponder said. An emergency craniotomy was performed on Alona which kept her in the ICU for five days before she finally died.

'It's just so unfair'

Ponder further said, "She only really got like an hour to spend with her [daughter Ari. It's just so- it's so unfair that she was robbed of life like that. I just don't understand what happened. I did not expect to get a call saying that my baby passed away," she continued, adding, "She was 25, perfectly healthy, I just don't know what went wrong." The family of Alona is awaiting the result of an autopsy so they can get answers to their questions on what really killed her, as per People report.

'No amount of money will bring her back'

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page was created so the family doesn’t have to bear the added burden of funeral costs and to get support for her grieving husband and daughters. "It's no amount of money that will bring her back and for these babies to live without their mother - no amount of money," Ponder said. The fundraiser website has collected close to $12,000, as per recent recordings.
