‘All Rise’ Season 2 Premiere: Fans are excited about Lola’s pregnancy, admit they are ‘surprised’
Spoilers for 'All Rise' Season 2 Premiere
The second season of 'All Rise' premiered on CBS this Monday night and while the episode dealt heavily with the Black Lives Matter protests that have taken over the country, all focus is on Judge Lola Carmichael, played by Simone Missick.
Lola was arrested during a protest in July 2020 and the episode shows how much of an effect it had on her — especially when her best friend, Assistant District Attorney Mark Callan (Wilson Bethel) commits a microaggression against her when he asks what she did wrong rather than ask the cop why he arrested her. All Lola had done was stand up for a 14-year-old girl who was accosted by a White cop during the protests.
During the first season, though we knew that Lola was already married and that Mark was seeing someone else, fans could not help but ship the two characters. However, with their friendship devolving as Lola is upset with Mark's "disrespect", there is another aspect that may have driven a nail in the coffin that could have been a non-platonic relationship between the two characters.
Towards the end of the episode, as Lola greets her husband, Robin Taylor (Todd Williams), who has returned from Washington DC, she tells him that she is pregnant. It is only after this that viewers see that Lola does indeed have a bump.
The news has been greeted with a warm welcome by the fans and though Lola’s PTSD in the aftermath of her arrest is heartbreaking to see, viewers are excited to see what comes next for her. One fan tweeted, “I can’t believe Lola’s pregnant. I’m so happy for her #AllRise #AllRiseCBS.” Another opined, “I knew she was pregnant! Lola in this red with the baby bump #AllRise #AllRiseCBS.”

While fans are waiting for Lola’s child, as this fan tweeted, “#AllRise OMG SHE IS PREGNANT AAAJAAKSJSKSKAAKA PLEASEEEEEE LITTLE LOLA,” others are more skeptical of what it means for the show. One viewer wrote, “Honestly, I'm kind of surprised Lola and Robin are still together, let alone having a baby. I assumed the long distance would be too much and they'd find a way to break them up. #AllRise.” Another opined, “The writers really made her pregnant to shut the mark and lola shippers up #AllRise.”
