Spoilers for 'All Rise' Season 2 Episode 2

This week's episode of 'All Rise' is the second part of a two-parter that opened with Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick) being arrested, leading to a fissure in her friendship with Mark Callan (Wilson Bethel). Unfortunately, that fissure is set to get worse when a video of Lola's confrontation goes viral while Mark is arguing for a hate crime enhancement for Jesse Frost (Tyler Barnhardt) who is accused of swinging a baseball bat at protesters and injuring them.

Things between Mark and Lola are still pretty tense and when Lola rules out the hate crime enhancement, things get worse. With things so bad between the best friends, Lola is not even sure of asking Mark to be the godfather to her unborn child. The case they are working on gets more complicated as the episode goes on as it is clear that there is something else that affects Jesse.

Of course, fans are not happy to see Mark and Lola not speaking to each other, and they are even less happy about seeing them fight in a courtroom. Things are getting intense and they know it as a fan tweeted, "Whew... that heated argument tho.... #AllRise didn't just go there, it's stayin' there...." A fan wrote, "When your coworker/homey doesn't back you when you want them to and you just like "oh word?" #AllRise."

Viewers are, however, showing their support for Lola, whom they know will carry out her job without any bias. A fan tweeted, "Lola carmichael is always just and fair. y'all can go back and sit in ur corner. and by y'all, i mean u amy. sit down and eat ur food #AllRise." Another pointed out, "Lola gotta deal with this, Mark, being pregnant, being a Black Woman, and be fair in her judgement/ruling... THE MENTAL GYMNASTICS!! Navigating this world for a Black woman is a full body workout #AllRise."

Fans nevertheless hope for a reconciliation between the two friends and hope that their traditional stairway conversation will come sooner than later. A viewer wrote, "Hoping for a stairwell convo between Mark and Lola, tonight, at a safe distance, of course. An echo enhanced make-up would be cute on #AllRise."

Even so, Mark has shown a lot of growth from the mistake he made and it is clear that he repents. One of the reasons he is going so hard at Jesse's case is because he knows that a Black kid would not be treated by the judicial system the same way. When Lola gives her ruling on the case, she lets it be known that she does not agree that the defendant swung his bat at protesters because he feared for his safety. She may not agree with the plea deal, but she agrees to it and tells Jesse that if he does not meet all the terms, he will be sent to prison.

The stairwell conversation has now become a rooftop conversation and Lola accepts Mark's invitation to talk. He apologizes for how he acted on the night of the protests. Thankfully, their friendship is safe for now, as they rejoice about Lola becoming a mother.

'All Rise' airs on CBS on Monday nights at 9/8c.
