'All Rise' Season 2: Meet Simone Missick, Wilson Bethel and the returning cast of the CBS legal drama
In its effort to bolster diversity on its network during the 2019 fall season, CBS launched four new shows featuring Black leads, including 'All Rise', 'Bob Hearts Abishola', 'Magnum PI' and 'The Neighborhood'. 'All Rise' is a legal procedural drama focusing on a newly appointed judge Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick) after she had a successful stint as the Deputy District Attorney. The second season of the show is set to premiere on CBS in November and will be doing so with a reflection of the real world in 2020.
In the first season of 'All Rise', the series followed the chaotic, hopeful, and somewhat absurd lives of legal professionals like judges, prosecutors, bailiffs, and so forth. The show focuses on Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick) who is a newly-appointed judge following a successful stint as a Deputy District Attorney. Lola will show that there is more to a judge than just sitting behind the desk and will actively bring out her humanity while flashing her legal chops, thus challenging the expectations of what a judge should be. Lola will also continue working with her best friend who also happens to be Deputy District Attorney Mark Callan (Wilson Bethel).
The synopsis for the Season 2 two-part premiere states, "Lola and Mark try to rebuild their friendship after Mark witnessed Lola being detained during a protest while defending a teen girl amid an escalating encounter with police," the logline for the first part reads. We'll learn what happened that night and see the long-lasting effects on Lola, Mark, public defender Emily Lopez (Jessica Camacho), clerk Luke Watkins (J. Alex Brinson), and all those involved through flashbacks."

Simone Missick
Simone Missick is an actress known for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Detective Misty Knight in 'Luke Cage', a role she also plays in 'The Defenders' and 'Iron Fist'. In 'All Rise', she plays the role of Lola Carmichael who was newly appointed as a judge when Season 1 begins. In Season 2, Lola continues to fight for the disenfranchised.
Wilson Bethel
Wilson Bethel is an actor best known for his roles in 'The OC' and 'Hart of Dixie'. Like his co-star Missick, Bethel is also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having played Agent Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter on the Netflix original series 'Daredevil'. In 'All Rise', he plays the role of Mark Callan, Lola's best friend, and the Deputy District Attorney.
Jessica Camacho
Jessica Camacho is an actress known for her roles in 'The Flash', 'Taken', 'Sleepy Hollow', 'Another Life', and 'Watchmen'. In 'All Rise', she plays the role of Emily Lopez, a member of the Los Angeles County Public Defender's office, who got divorced from her estranged husband in Season 1 and started dating Luke Watkins.
J Alex Brinson
J Alex Brinson is an actor known for his roles in 'Travelers', 'iZombie', 'Prison Break', and 'The X-Files'. In 'All Rise', he plays the role of Luke Watkins, a four-year veteran bailiff with the Los Angeles County Sherrif's department. In the first season, he graduates from law school and clerks at the District Attorney's office.
Ruthie Ann Miles
Ruthie Ann Miles is an actress known for her roles on television 'The Americans' and 'Elementary', and her theatre roles in 'Here Lies Love', 'The King and I', and 'Sunday in the Park with George'. In 'All Rise', she plays the role of Sherri Kansky, an experienced judge's assistant assigned to Judge Lola Carmichael despite their difficult relationship. Over the first season, Sherri's respect for Lola grows as they build a friendship.
The second season of 'All Rise' will premiere on CBS on Monday, November 16, at 9/8c.
