Who are Alice Valentine? Chuck Schumer's performance with Brooklyn band goes viral: 'No idea you could sing'
US Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer won many hearts over the weekend when pictures and videos of him performing with a local band on the streets went viral on the internet. The Democrat joined a band performing on the sidewalk in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on Saturday night, May 22, to sing the Frank Sinatra classic 'New York, New York' and Billy Joel’s 'Piano Man', according to footage of the impromptu gig posted on Twitter.
Next day, on Sunday, May 23, Schumer again went out with the band in the area and tweeted, “And look who I just ran into in Prospect Park: The same band I was singing with last night! Alice Valentine was performing today with the dance group, Solo. They're great!"

More and more people started tweeting about the band, as one person said, "This is my new street corner. Caught this band last week and yesterday. They’re called “Alice Valentine” and are playing every Saturday on 5th Ave and Union. I got there too late to catch Chuck though." To which the bass player of the band replied saying, "Hi there! I'm Eugene and I'm the bass player in the band, we are called Alice Valentine. We play at this location every weekend called "Something Else" in Park Slope. Can you tag us at AV_4lyfe on twitter and on instagram we are thealicevalentine."

While complementing Schumer, one person said, "Chuck Schumer is somehow like an Instagram influencer in my world on here: I’m extremely aware of what live music he’s at for some reason. That @rachsyme tweet about the mid-aughts in NYC? Back then I was to the band Harlem Shakes the way Chuck apparently is to Alice Valentine." One said, "That is fabulous! I had no idea you could sing. I need to see Senator Schumer on SNL. @nbcsnl."
