WALTERBORO, SOUTH CAROLINA: The chilling phone records of Alex Murdaugh revealed the accused murderer looked up a well-known South Carolina restaurant soon after claiming to have discovered his slain wife and son. The 54-year-old disgraced South Carolina lawyer "searched 'Whaley's Edisto' on Safari browser" at 10.40 pm, while still on the bloody crime scene and just 15 minutes after the first police officer arrived.

The 54-year-old was "upset" but did not exhibit any "visible tears," according to the officer's testimony. The results of the investigation were presented in a precise timeline that traced Alex's activities on June 7, 2021, the day his wife Maggie, 52, and their son Paul, 22, were shot to death in front of dog kennels on SC estate.

The restaurant 'Whaley's Edisto' Alex looked for is one of the oldest in Edisto, where Alex's main house was, and it serves an item named on the menu as "Maggie's favorite burger." It is unclear if there is a relation to the Murdaughs, who had been one of the region's most illustrious and influential families for many decades, reports New York Post.

What does the timeline say?

According to the timeline, the search took place just over 30 minutes after Murdaugh's car was seen driving up to the dog kennels where his wife and son were killed. Maggie was shot four or five times with a rifle while Paul was wounded twice from close range with a shotgun. Just 17 seconds after his car arrived, Murdaugh dialed 911 but informed the dispatcher that he had already examined the remains and even tried to turn them over. There was "blood everywhere ... "I see brain," he remarked.

Alex was listed as being there at the Colleton County residence until 9.07 pm that evening, more than 15 minutes after the suspected murders of his wife and son, according to the previous timeline. The man told the detectives he had spent hours visiting his sick parents.

'He was a busy guy right then, was he?'

Prior to leaving the house, the father's phone recorded him moving quickly—about 70 steps per minute—far more quickly than he had the rest of the day. At Colleton County Court, prosecutor Creighton Waters questioned State Law Enforcement Division agent Peter Rudofski, "He was a busy guy right then, was he?" "It appears," the agent answered.

'There’s no direct evidence'

The defense team for Murdaugh contends that the prosecution misidentified Murdaugh as guilty from the beginning and has spent the entire time trying to smear information that can be explained away or leaves a gaping hole in the story. "There’s no direct evidence. There’s no eyewitnesses. There’s nothing on camera. There’s no fingerprints. There’s no forensics tying him to the crime. None," defense lawyer Dick Harpootlian stated, reports New York Post.

If Alex is found guilty of the killings, he spends 30 years to the rest of his life behind bars. He has entered a not-guilty plea.
