'Infowars' host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones might not be deposed in the Sandy Hook defamation case, due to a medical emergency. On March 21, a lawyer for Jones sought to delay the deposition, citing an "unnamed medical emergency". Without much detail, the internet decided to make up its own version of what happened to Jones, trolling him heavily in the process.

Jones was expected to be deposed after a judge ruled he was liable to be sued for defamation in November 2021. His planned deposition comes just weeks after the families of the tragedy won a massive $73 million settlement with Remington Arms, a historical first. That victory came after a prolonged court battle, where the company once sent memes and cartoons to lawyers during discovery.

Jones is being sued by the victims of the tragedy for claiming that the school shooting was a "hoax", a claim that even Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has since shared. He claimed that the shooting was done by the far-left, to push for greater gun control. Since the suit was filed, Jones has been fighting tooth and nail against it, using an array of tactics.

Jones claims he is unwell, can't depose

Back in 2021, Connecticut Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis slammed Jones' "willful noncompliance" with the discovery process. His team simply refused to turn over data requested by the plaintiffs, leading Bellis to rule Jones was liable. However, rather than learning from his past failed antics, it appears he's only conjured up more ways to delay the inevitable. On March 21, Jones' lawyer Norm Pattis filed for a delay.

Pattis said, "Mr. Jones was under the care of a physician for medical conditions that require immediate, and possibly, emergency testing." He added that in the opinion of the physician, "Mr. Jones should not sit for depositions this week." As expected, Pattis did not state what condition Jones suffered from, who the physician was, or how long Jones would need to recover. In the filing, the lawyer simply asked for a "reasonable time period", and said he would soon file a signed letter from the physician with the court.

But is Jones really unwell? When MEA WorldWide headed to the Inforwars website, a live feed showed Jones hosting his regular show. It's unclear if the show is actually live, but the website claims it is. If that is indeed the case, Jones seems perfectly healthy, something many online appeared to have caught as well.

'Was it crisis-actor-itis?'

"Did he eat a bowl of chili again?" one user asked. Another trolled, "Sure, laugh all you want, but ivermectin overdose is a serious medical condition affecting literally tens of Internet personalities every year." A third slammed, "'ve seen *innocents* be brutally questioned while cuffed to a hospital bed. And this was judged to be "in accordance with department policy". There's no reason Alex Jones can't be deposed while recovering from self-inflicted rugburns."

"Was it crisis-actor-itis? But seriously, these delays are so transparent He does not get to be treated as a good faith defendant Send sheriff’s to test his claim," one user mocked. Another tweeted, "It’s all those supplements he sells on his show… backed by ‘real’ doctors." One person trolled, "I hope the Court is swift to inform Mr. Jones that "shitting bricks" isn't an actual medical condition."
