ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO: An Albuquerque middle school mathematics teacher was fired from her job of four years after her students discovered a pornographic video featuring her online. While the name of the teacher hasn't been revealed, it was announced that her actions violated the private school's policy.

The Bosque School reportedly sent a letter on April 22, Thursday, to parents and guardians addressing the controversy that has hit the administration and students. Informing parents and guardians that "one of their middle school teachers had been engaging in concerning personal online behavior", the official letter from the school reportedly did not reveal a lot of detailed information. According to latest local reports from News 13, the woman who is at the center of this issue taught eighth-grade mathematics.

What had happened?

The school said that posting pornographic videos online violates their school policy. "I have no idea when her videos were made. I can't speak to that but clearly, there was online activity that has occurred during her tenure as a teacher and that very much violates our norms as a community," said Jessie Barrie, head of Bosque School.

According to local reports, it was students who brought the issue of the video to a school administrator. The school has reportedly said that the video was posted online during her employment there. "As soon as we got this information she was immediately put on leave and as soon as we had that confirmation, she was immediately terminated," Barrie said. And so, the teacher, who had been employed by the Bosque School for four years, was fired.

As the school has refused to reveal more details about the incident, it is unclear who took the video. But what concerns authorities is the fact that posting a pornographic video in a public domain -- easily accessible by students -- is an obvious violation of the code of conduct, the school reportedly said. Local outlets like News 13 watched the video but couldn't confirm whether the teacher had herself posted the video that she appears in.

"So the fact that our students were engaging with this online content, and obviously, we're very concerned about it as it related to creating that community, that safe community,"  Barrie reportedly said. At the same time, the authorities of the school discussed how they expect teachers to be role models and to behave and conduct in a respectful manner, and how the teacher involved in all this happened to cross that very line.

"Our teachers should be role models and outstanding individuals that our students can feel safe and comfortable with. We have a very extensive employee handbook and within that handbook lays out all the guidelines with how we can create that safe and nurturing community and this very much violates that," Barrie said.
