'Alaskan Bush People': Wolfpack tries to cheer a distraught Bear after his wedding with Raiven is called off
Season 12 of 'Alaskan Bush People' premiered on Sunday (August 23). The episode focused on the wedding preparations of Bear Brown and his fiancee Raiven Adams. However, by the end of the episode, the producers were seen looking for Bear but he was nowhere to be found. Later, his sister Snowbird 'Birdy' Brown headed to look for him, found him and asked everyone to back off, stop filming and just give them some space. Shortly after, a note flashed on the screen that read, “Just days before the ceremony, Bear has disappeared… and the wedding has been called off."
Birdy was the one who had expressed concerns over his brother and Raiven moving too fast in their relationship. In a confessional post about all the above events that played out in the episode, she was heard saying, "It doesn’t always go as planned, and, you know, I don’t mean to be pushy to anyone, but we just need a little bit of time and a little bit of space." Bear seemed really out of his element in this episode and Brown family patriarch Billy and Birdy decided that they need to help Bear come out of his shell and stop feeling gloomy. The family just witnessed the first snow of the season and started building a bonfire and also tried to get Bear to participate, after which he did feel normal to some extent.
Bear and Raiven called it quits in October 2019 and even though their romantic relationship looked like it had run its course, they were still hopeful and excited to be engaging as co-parents of their then-unborn son. Raiven wrote on her Instagram story, "We just wanted to get on good terms without all the input. We are doing well and still excited to be parents! Some people aren’t meant to be together… and we want to do what’s healthiest for our baby."
Things were not as simple as it seemed for the couple and the drama between them escalated to a point where Bear had to go through the courts to confirm his paternity before he could meet his son. In August, it finally looked like he could meet his son as the coronavirus lockdown had relaxed a bit. “With the virus that’s been going around, (I) haven’t felt like it would have been safe to visit River,” he told In Touch. “But now they seem to have (enough tests) to see if you’re infected, so I won’t have to worry about infecting River or my parents when I return home!" he told In Touch.
However, Raiven told the outlet that it wasn't the case. “He has always been welcome to see him,” she told the outlet. “(But he) doesn’t call or try to be involved.… I’ve even offered to bring our son to him.”
'Alaskan Bush People' airs Sundays at 8 pm ET on Discovery.
