MIAMI, FLORIDA: An Alabama woman was arrested and charged on Tuesday, December 20 after she allegedly threw a computer monitor at an American Airlines employee at Miami-Dade International Airport.
Camilia McMillie, 25, is facing charges of aggravated battery, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. McMillie, of Birmingham, was reportedly traveling from Alabama to New York City, with a stopover in Miami. Miami police said she became "irate and began to scream" after she noticed that her two minor children had wandered away, People reported.

The children had gone to the restroom, but a witness told WSVN that their disappearance caused McMillie to go into a "panic mode."' The frantic mother started looking for her children and even asked the airport security to help her find them. A video of the incident has since gone viral in which McMillie is seen pulling a boarding passes reader out of a wooden counter, damaging both the area and the equipment itself.

In a fit of rage, she then threw a computer at the gate agent, hitting her shoulder. "She pulled the boarding pass reader off the wooden counter, damaging the equipment and countertop area," the release from MDPD stated. "As she continued to scream, she then grabbed the computer monitor and threw it at the gate agent, striking her in the shoulder." McMillie was detained by Customs and Border Protection officers following the event while awaiting the arrival of Miami-Dade Police officers, who later took her into custody.
The mother's actions left her co-passengers terrified. Trudy Hooker, who was traveling to the Bahamas with her husband Ernie, told CBS, "My reaction is that I think this was a little overboard. She should not have acted so quickly like this." Ernie Hooker said, “This was too violent. She should have taken more time to find out where her kids were. The person behind the counter had nothing to do with her kids wandering away. Someone could have gotten hurt."
McMillie is currently being held in a Miami-Dade County jail with a $4,500 bond, according to the jail records. As of Wednesday evening, she remains behind bars. The document also stated that she caused over $10,000 in damages and also left the gate agent with a bruised right shoulder. Her children are currently being assisted by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
American Airlines also issued a statement condemning the incident. The statement said, "Acts of violence against our team members are not tolerated by American Airlines and we are committed to working closely with law enforcement in their investigation. Our thoughts are with our team members, and we are ensuring they have the support they need at this time."
