'AJ and the Queen' Episode 9: Robert struggles to part with AJ after they arrive in Fort Worth

When Robert and AJ started their journey on a cross country club tour, the plan was to drop AJ off at her Pop Pop's (grandfather) in Texas. When the duo reached Fort Worth, Robert found it hard to deal with the fact that these are his last few moments with the little girl he's come to love so much. However, while in Texas, the duo meets up with Robert's childhood friend Beth Barnes Beagle (Jane Krakowski, from '30 Rock') where some soul searching leads to much-needed healing for everyone.
Reaching Texas, AJ finds out that her grandfather lives just 40 minutes away, but Robert stalls the trip while not being able to let her go. Upon reaching Beth's mansion, Robert gets nostalgic about his childhood. He also finds out that his friend is not so happy with her fake accent and many riches. After a performance in Beth's living room, Robert has a heart-to-heart with his friend, helping her realize that it's okay that she's wearing a mask to hide things, just as long as she's happy.
While the duo mingles in Texas, Brianna, AJ's mother finds out the whereabouts of her daughter from Loius, Robert's best friend. Clean from drugs and now furious that her daughter is far away, she threatens Louis with lawyers and cops. After seeing her hysterical, Louis resorts to supporting Robert's decision to take little AJ to her grandfather, and the plan remains unchanged. Robert confides in Louis, letting him know that he's grown to love his little sidekick, "I don't know how to be without her," he says. Cue the tears!
A more heartfelt episode than most, it was definitely tear-jerking when AJ decides to go to Dallas with Robert to see him win his last show. As much as we can't wait for AJ to be with family again, she found her family in Robert as well and we can't bear to see them say their goodbyes.
