'AJ and the Queen': Fans impressed with Netflix's dark comedy: 'Everything RuPaul creates is pure excellence'
Fans had been anxiously waiting for the drop of Netflix's dark comedy 'AJ and the Queen' starring the legendary Ru Paul. After its release this Friday, they raved on Twitter supporting the actor's performance on the 10-episode-series. Looks like the show lifted more than a few spirits as fans are calling for Academy Award nominations.

The show follows an unlikely friendship between a Robert, who is on the road for a cross-country club tour as a drag performer, and AJ, a 10-year-old streetwise stowaway that wants to see her grandfather in Texas.
With many emotional and hilarious moments, fans enjoyed the performance that was guaranteed by Ruby Red - Robert's drag persona - in every episode. From costumes that were to die for and make-up that only Ru Paul could kill, fans respected and appreciated the work that went into the dark comedy delivery. "This took two hours of bronzing, blushing, eyelash gluing, shading, leg make-up-ing, fake hair attaching and shimmer-ing. I have a whole new respect for @RuPaul. And painters. Who is watching #AJAndTheQueen?!" tweeted a supporter.
With the dark reality of social issues portrayed using comedy and innocence, it was sure to pull at more than a few heartstrings. While some fan started the binge-worthy series, calls for Oscar nominations were already trickling in after the second episode watch, "I cried in the second episode of #AjAndTheQueen. I am sold. Ru Paul for sure lived up to the hype, not to mention, this was not his only project at the time he was filming for the how.
