Actress and comedian Aidy Bryant did a hilarious impersonation of US Senator from Texas Ted Cruz, which is making the rounds on Twitter and making a lot of people laugh out loud. The latest 'SNL' acknowledged US politics with a sketch inspired by the only thing people were really talking about this week — the second Donald Trump impeachment trial. The sketch was based on an episode of Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show looking back on the impeachment and had as its highlight Aidy Bryant’s absolutely brutal impression of Ted Cruz. Pete Davidson starred as Trump impeachment Lawyer Michael van der Veen while Kate McKinnon played Lindsey Graham and Alex Moffat played Carlson.

Twitter welcomed the hilarity with open arms, saying "Of all the possible “Kate and Aidy” pairings... this was not on my bingo card. #snl." Another tweet added pictures of Bryant as Andy Reid and Bruce Arians in an earlier SNL show, saying "Is there anything that Kate McKinnon #KateMcKinnon and #AidyBryant Aidy Bryant aren't great at?" A Twitter user noticed the uncanny resemblance to Bryant's Cruz and the real one, saying "Aidy Bryant's Ted Cruz: Where's the lie? #SNL" One agreed that Bryant's beard was better than the politician's.

People were amazed with the performance, some calling Kate 'the queen' and adding that Bryant was the star of the show. "Another outstanding impression from the queen that is Kate McKinnon but Aidy Bryant stole the show here  #SNL," said a tweet, while another said, "OMG Aidy Bryant *is* Ted Cruz. #SNL Madly in love with the choice to cast most of the GOP deplorables with women cast members." Some people agreed that the actors made the politicians seem more tolerable, saying "Only Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant could make Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz slightly bearable. #SNL".

"Kate and Aidy had more masculine energy individually in this #coldopen than @LindseyGrahamSC and @tedcruz @SenTedCruz do combined. #SNL@nbcsnl #impeachment #ImpeachmentTrial #ImpeachmentTrial2," read a tweet. Another said, "The best part about Aidy Bryant doing an amazing Ted Cruz impersonation is knowing how mad Ted Cruz is going to be when he goes on social media tmrw. #SNL"

But it looks like the Internet won't think much of Cruz's temper, going by a post that read: "Aidy Bryant is a national treasure that must be protected at all costs #SNL". "Wouldn’t it be great if we could just usher the collective GOP into a room and lock the door and replace them with people SNL makes up to replace them! I agree about Aidy and Kate, but Aidy as Ted priceless," another Twitter user mused.
