Ted Cruz turns on Trump and slams his 'reckless' rhetoric on voter fraud, Internet says 'you can't wriggle out of this'
The Donald Trump presidency may have come to an end, but that hasn't ended the issues that have copped up within the GOP. All is clearly not well in the Republican camp as Senator Ted Cruz slammed the former president with regard to the alleged voter fraud and the 2020 elections. In a recent development, Cruz, talking on 'VERDICT', took a potshot at Trump.
“President Trump’s rhetoric, I think, went way too far over the line,” Cruz said on the show. “I think it was both reckless and irresponsible because he said repeatedly —and he said over and over again — he won by a landslide; there was massive fraud; it was all stolen everywhere." He added: That evidence, the campaign did not prove that in any court, and to make a determination about an election it has to be based on the evidence, and so simply saying the result you want, that’s not responsible and you’ve never heard me use language like that."
"What I’ve said is voter fraud is real, and we need to examine the evidence, and look at the actual facts; and in particular, what is the evidence of how much voter fraud occurred, and did it occur in sufficient quantities and in sufficient states to alter the outcome of the election. That would have been the mandate of the election commission; to assess."
Twitter users have claimed that this was just Cruz making statements and slammed him for being an active part of the Capitol riots. "You should move on. You could have cared less@about antifa and the looting and rioting they killed innocent people. When you think it’s expedient to “care” about this is bs. It’s only politically expedient," read one of the tweets.
"One rioter who entered the Senate chamber said, "Ted Cruz would want us to do this, so I think we're good." Cruz said Trump's "language and rhetoric crossed the line and it was reckless" and "you will not find me say the same language or rhetoric," said CBS reporter Grace Segers.

"Really? Because I’m pretty sure I heard him engage in that same line-crossing rhetoric. Cruz lit a fuse to the violence at the Capitol on 1/6. He can’t wriggle out of his responsibility for lying repeatedly about an election that was free and fair and proven so in the courts." opined one of the people.

In related news, the Senate investigation into Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz will take place behind closed doors by a committee in Congress. As per Politico, the duo's challenge to President Joe Biden's electoral challenge is now tied up with the Senate Ethics Committee. The site also added that while Trump's second impeachment would conclude early, the probe into these two senators will most likely continue although little is known about the outcome.
