'AGT' Season 19: Watch Simon Cowell save Sofia Vergara from getting bathed in ick
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: Yes, there is 'America's Got Talent,' although it may be a strange one at times. On July 16, in one of the reality show's more eerie moments this season, a zombie-like creature appeared in front of the judges' table and startled them before sending judges Simon Cowell and Sofรญa Vergara onstage to play a "game."
It wasn't really enjoyable, of course. Simon was directed to gaze at various numbered balloons to pop over the head of the person seated onstage wearing a blindfold.
Fortunately for the 'Modern Family' star, all the balloons Simon chose contained confetti. Once Sofia was secure, the participants deflated another balloon, which looked to contain more terrible contents: maggots.

Simon Cowell loves Forest of Haunts's audition from 'AGT' Season 19
Simon really gave them a compliment, even though Judge Heidi Klum pressed the "X" button to halt the performance immediately before it was about to conclude. "That was repulsive, but brilliant," he commented, "seriously."
Howie Mandel, a skeptical judge, questioned Simon about whether he and Sofia were together on it, but it seems that they weren't. Afterward, Howie joked that the entire act resembled "a scene from Griselda," alluding to Sofia's Netflix drama about a drug lord in Columbia, which she both appears in and produces.
Sofia, for her part, stated that she had no idea what was going on and so deferred to the crowd. They expressed their approval by cheering loudly.
Simon and Howie both agreed, but Heidi could not be persuaded. For her, it was simply "hideous."
Howie called it "a win for the maggots."
