'AGT' Season 19: Watch GOAT Simon Cowell get booed for cutting off Filipino Singers L6 mid audition
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: 'America's Got Talent' returns on June 25 after a week break, so why not share an audition featuring L6? However, Simon Cowell interrupts the family singing trio in the 'AGT' early release audition footage.
'AGT' has put out an early release audition for Tuesday's upcoming episode of Season 19. The video includes L6, a family singing group from the Philippines.
Judge Simon interrupted their performance midway through and offered a recommendation. The whole group started performing Celine Dion's "All By Myself" with a background track.
After a minute, Simon lifted his hand to halt them, and the audience booed him. He recommended that they "lose the track" and sing without music.
"In my opinion, the track was terrible," Simon explained. "There aren’t that many great acappella groups, and I think you’ve got the potential to be a great acappella group."
The group followed Simon's instructions and started the song anew without music. They showcased some incredible harmonies, and everyone in the ensemble had an opportunity to shine.
The judges were so thrilled that they gave the ensemble a standing ovation after the song ended.
'AGT' judges support Simon Cowell's disruption
Following the performance, Simon informed the group that he could see they were fantastic. He went on to say that they sounded "more unique" and "more memorable" without the backing music, adding that they "absolutely nailed that."
"Everyone was so important in this song—how you melted together," Heidi Klum told the group.
"After Simon raised his hand, some people probably would just run off. And you just took it as a champ. And yes, he was right. It sounded amazing."
L6 earned four "yes" votes from the judges to advance.
'AGT' fans call Simon Cowell 'GOAT' for interrupting L6 audition
Fans thought Simon made an excellent decision. It's evident that there is a lot of untapped potential here, and many believe they'll be much better if they continue as an acapella ensemble and rehearse properly.
Under the clip on YouTube, fans commented, "Maybe the crowd should not boo until Simon finishes his point." Another person chimed in, "SIMON IS INDEED A LEGENDARY PRODUCER. HE KNOWS WHAT'S BEST FOR EVERYONE."
One user further wrote, "If Simon stop u perfomance, he know u amazing with second chancee." A fourth user added, "DAMN THAT WAS GOOD BEYOND WORDS. Well done Simon! Luntayao Sibling! The entire country is beyond proud of ya'll."
Another excited fan wrote, "Shut the front door, back door, side doors, and your neighbour’s door, that was mindblowingly amazing. I didn’t think Simon stopping them was necessary, but then that happened." Some mentioned, "that's why Simon is forever a GOAT producer."
Good on them for being able to respond quickly to input, as well as for making such a significant adjustment!
Who is L6 on 'AGT' Season 19?
L6 identified themselves as a singing group from the Philippines, consisting of five siblings and their niece. They said it was their late mother's wish for them to go on 'AGT'.
They previously featured in 'The Voice Generations Philippines' under Coach Stell, aka Stellvester Ajero.
