The Boys are back. No, sorry, not the Bad ones, or the superher-hero killing ones, we mean the Lost, vampiric ones. 'The Lost Boys', a 1987 vampire movie, is being brought back from the dead in a new pilot order from the CW, after the old pilot was scrapped despite heavy reworkings.

In 2019, the CW passed on a 'Lost Boys' reboot pilot that had been shot by 'Twilight' director Catherine Hardwicke. The network was reportedly unhappy with the pilot and ordered rewritings and reshoots before scrapping the project entirely. According to Variety, however, the CW is now ready to try again, with a new pilot whose script will be penned by none other than Rob Thomas. The writer and director has had great success with TV shows such as 'Veronica Mars' and 'iZombie.' The pilot will be directed by Marcos Siega, who will be returning to the world of vampires after having directed the pilot to 'The Vampire Diaries' and an episode of 'True Blood.' The pilot will be co-written by Heather Mitchell.

Variety reports that the new pilot's plot will steer much closer to the original film, with the following description: "When a mother and her Gen Z sons move to the seaside town where she grew up, they discover there’s a sinister reason the local cool kids sleep all day, party all night, never grow up and never get old. Family bonds are tested as the brothers find themselves on opposite sides of a mythological struggle."

Part of the synopsis will be familiar to fans of the original movie, as it was promoted with "Sleep all day, party all night, never grow up and never get old. It's fun to be a vampire" - a reference to the Lost Boys of 'Peter Pan'.

None of the members of the cast list that had been announced for the first pilot will be returning for the new pilot. No new cast members have yet been announced.
