On Thursday, Adame Levine was criticized for a "lackluster" performance of his band, Maroon 5, at the Vina del Mar festival in Chile. South American fans especially expressed their disappointment with Levine's perceived attitude towards the crowd.

Later, Levine took to social media to apologize for the performance and his attitude during the performance and has promised fans that the band will "completely destroy" their next performance.

Fans had demanded that the singer apologizes for taking to stage at least 15 minutes late, thus forcing TV presenters Maria Luisa Godoy and Martin Càracamo "fill in for minutes that became eternal for those present," reported Chilean news outlet CHV News.

Levine was also captured on camera complaining about the performance while storming backstage: “That was a TV show… that was not a concert.”

On Friday, Levine posted a story on his Instagram profile and explained that the fans "deserved" to hear an explanation for his performance. He said, "To be totally frank there were some things holding me back last night and I let them get to me. And it impacted how I was behaving on stage, which is unprofessional and I apologize for that."

Levine continued, "I struggled a lot and sometimes it's really [hard] for me to mask the struggle. For that, I let you guys down and I apologize." He insisted that he and Marron 5 believe the festival is a "prestigious, amazing" event to participate in.

When the artist and the band began their performance, the crowd sang along and were disconcerted to hear the singer say, "Well, if you want to do my job, go ahead."

Later, according to E! News, another performer, Chilean actress and singer, Denise Rosenthal, alleged that Levine "asked that no-one looked him in the face [and] turned to face the wall" when in his presence in a tweet that has since been deleted.

Levine also said during his apology, "Last night wasn't our best and for that, all I can say is I'm really sorry."
