'A Very Brady Renovation' recreates the interiors of 'The Brady Bunch' home in its original design

Viewers will be able to see 'The Brady Bunch' house transformation in its full glory when HGTV airs 'A Very Brady Restoration' in September
PUBLISHED MAY 24, 2019

Are you ready to be back in the iconic 'The Brady Bunch' house that defined what home means for an entire generation? The house that was used for the exterior shots in the ABC TV show was bought by media company HGTV after a very public bid in 2018, and was renovated for a special series titled 'A Brady Renovation'

After buying the house for $3.5 million — almost double the $1.885 million asking price — the media house hired a team to duplicate the original set in every way because the actual house does not look anything like the interior illusions designed in a studio. According to ET, duplicating the iconic staircase was the most taxing part of the renovation, because the one-storey house had to be turned into a two-storey one to completely match 'The Brady Bunch' house.

In the end, they had to dig lower to recreate the staircase without changing the exterior roofline. And, after 307 days of hard work and innovative planning, the restoration was finally complete, and the original house at 11222 Dilling Street now looks like 'The Brady Bunch' house we grew up with.

The renovation is the result of the blood and sweat of 'The Property Brothers' stars Drew and Jonathan Scott, 'Good Bones' stars Mina Starsiak and Karen Laine, 'Restored by the Fords' stars Leanne and Steve Ford, 'Hidden Potentials' star Jasmine Roth and 'Flea Market Flip' star Lara Spencer, who worked alongside the cast of 'The Brady Bunch' Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Barry Williams (Greg), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy).

"This is crazy," McCormick exclaimed after seeing the fully developed house the first time. "This is unbelievable. I first walked in and I freaked out. I immediately felt like I was back on stage five at Paramount and I was really on our set. It's perfect."

Viewers will be able to see the transformation in its full glory when HGTV airs 'A Very Brady Restoration' in September.
