What is 'A Small Light' about? Plot of Disney+ biographical drama mini-series explained

An act of heroism etched into the fabric of modern culture

The story of Miep Gies was an important part of history and was essential to be narrated into this era. The story of bravery, kindness, and humanity is the essence of 'A Small Night' and the series perfectly delivers on it. The theme of the series is set in an era where things were uncertain, people didn't dream about the future but believed in living each day. The "dare to dream" idea was written in the book by Anne Frank and although the German-born Jewish girl isn't the highlight of the series but a mere supporting character, Miep and Anne co-exist in history as a duo that is known for dreaming of a world full of humanity, kindness, and empathy.

The Frank family navigates life in secret annex

Episode 2 of 'A Small Light' starts with a scene when the Frank family starts to settle in the secret Annex. The episode perfectly describes the emotions of each member of the Frank family. The highlight of the episodes comes out to be how different each family member behaves in a confined space, where they all are stuck due to similar circumstances. Anne's sister Margot Frank (Ashley Brooke) is sad about the scenario of never seeing the outside world again. The parents, Otto Frank, and Edith Frank, meanwhile, are more optimistic about life and are trying to make the best of the situation. While Otto (Liev Schreiber) wishes to continue working and being the head of the family. All in all, 'A Small Light' is a must-watch if you're a history buff and want to know about Miep Gies, a heroic figure who etched her name in history.

'A Small Light' now exclusively available on National Geographic.
