The first official trailer for the war drama 'A Private War' is here and by the looks of it, there's finally a movie with seemingly accurate journalistic representation to look forward to. All set to release this November 2, the film stars Academy Award winner, Rosamund Rike, in the role of celebrated war correspondent Marie Colvin.

The movie chronicles the life and rebellious nature of the fearless real-life hero and how her passion drove her to several conflicted parts of the globe in an earnest effort to give voices to the suppressed and suffering.

The film also marks the narrative directorial debut of Matthew Heineman, after his very successful documentary venture Cartel Land which showcased a brutal drug war from a very cinematic, intimate perspective. But his isn't the only stellar performance in this film. Pike in her almost unrecognizable avatar looks like she's driven towards a goal with a burning passion, much like the character she's playing on the screen.

As Collider writes, "She’s certainly making some daring choices in this particular performance, which one imagines captures the spirit of the unique Colvin."

The trailer does a remarkable job at raising expectation from the film too. Expectation far beyond the usual archetypical norms when it comes to movies like these. Check it out here:

The film - scripted by Arash Amel - also features Jamie Dornan, Stanley Tucci, and Tom Hollander.  It is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Marissa McMahon, Matthew George, Matthew Heineman, and Charlize Theron and is based on Marie Brenner’s 2012 Vanity Fair article “Marie Colvin’s Private War”. The official synopsis of the film is as follows:

In a world where journalism is under attack, Marie Colvin (Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike) is one of the most celebrated war correspondents of our time. Colvin is an utterly fearless and rebellious spirit, driven to the frontlines of conflicts across the globe to give voice to the voiceless, while constantly testing the limits between bravery and bravado. After being hit by a grenade in Sri Lanka, she wears a distinctive eye patch and is still as comfortable sipping martinis with London’s elite as she is confronting dictators. Colvin sacrifices loving relationships, and over time, her personal life starts to unravel as the trauma she’s witnessed takes its toll. Yet, her mission to show the true cost of war leads her — along with renowned war photographer Paul Conroy (Jamie Dornan) — to embark on the most dangerous assignment of their lives in the besieged Syrian city of Homs. Based on the extraordinary life of Marie Colvin, 'A Private War' is brought to the screen by Academy Award nominee and critically acclaimed documentary filmmaker Matthew Heineman in his pulse-pounding narrative feature debut.
