MIAMI, FLORIDA: A basketball fan faced headwinds after bringing his dog, colored to look like the most popular Pokemon, to an NBA game. To resemble Pikachu from the popular Japanese series, the small, fluffy dog was given a bright yellow coat and red dots on its cheeks. At a basketball game on December 27 between the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves, the dog was seen being held by its owner. The sports enthusiast was noticed in the stands and a picture of the dog was shared on Twitter, prompting calls for his arrest.

User @cjzero posted a video of the tiny fluffy dog on Twitter, where game commentators seem to be at a loss for words when describing the dog. Due to the dog's strange markings, the internet was outraged, with many users claiming that the decision amounts to animal cruelty, as dyes intended for humans can harm animals - sometimes irrevocably.

MEAWW Previously reported a similar kind of incident where a pet owner wanted strangers to not be scared of her pooch and so she colored her pet Great Dane a shade of pink. She even painted the animal's nails! 21-year-old Jessica Williams of Kentucky claimed that she took dramatic measures to make her adorable five-month-old puppy Drama more approachable to strangers because she grew weary of people on the street being afraid of her. Williams made the $100 (£76) decision to give her five-month-old puppy a radical makeover, which includes turning her dog pink. She claims that the change has greatly improved her dog's appearance because people now swarm to see her vibrantly colored pet.

She said, "People are generally scared of big dogs, and I've noticed that some people might not approach my dogs as much as little ones. With them being dyed, it makes it easier to socialise them because not nearly as many people are afraid — especially when they're pink and purple." Williams also insisted that her beloved pooch Drama now makes people smile when they pass her by, instead of scaring them into scurrying away as soon as possible. She added: "It also means that Drama can be the reason someone smiles, and they would be more eager to walk up to us and ask to pet them."
