8-week-old puppy 'miraculously unharmed' after being tossed out of moving car during LAPD pursuit

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A puppy that was flung out of a moving car during a police pursuit in Los Angeles on Friday has been safely found, police confirmed. The pursuit started in South Los Angeles and went on for two hours via Inglewood and Westchester on Friday, April 7 at around noon. One of the suspects was wanted for attempted murder.

The 8-week-old puppy was at one time put in a Michael Kors bag and dumped on the street. "Miraculously, the dog emerged unharmed and was rescued by responding LAPD officers," the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said in a statement, as reported by New York Post.

Who are the suspects?

The suspects' car collided with another vehicle while the chase went on. After that, the driver hopped out of their Chevy truck and into a second getaway vehicle. The driver and passengers of the second getaway car eventually leaped out, bringing the chase to an abrupt halt. The suspects were identified as 27-year-old Gustavo Alvarez, 27-year-old Lynette Moreno, and 25-year-old Michelle Zamudio, as per FOX 11 Los Angeles.

Around 2.00 pm, the thrilling pursuit ultimately came to an end when the driver and passengers abandoned the vehicle on a Carson residential street. The female driver was also taken into custody as the male suspect fled in the direction of a house but quickly turned himself in. All suspects are now in custody. Alvarez was arrested in connection with a carjacking and attempted murder that took place on March 26. Moreno was arrested for allegedly organizing the second escape car, while Zamudio was arrested for allegedly operating the second getaway car.

'Puppy’s doing just fine'

Los Angeles Animal Services has put the mixed-breed dog on hold while they finish up their investigation into his owner. "All is well as you can see — this little puppy’s doing just fine," animal care technician supervisor Matthew Spease told FOX 11 Los Angeles.

The puppy is not presently available for adoption, according to officials. Meanwhile, the area is in need of permanent homes for hundreds of dogs and cats. 'Lock them up forever'

Meanwhile, the chase and the puppy both caught the internet's attention. Netizens were relieved the puppy wasn't harmed. A person tweeted, "Hell is not hot enough for them." Another user wrote, "Awww… I’m so happy this precious little dog is OK. Hope he gets a lovely home real soon. He is sooo adorable!" Someone else mentioned, "Thank goodness puppy and officers are okay. " Another wrote, "Was watching this live and wondered what was tossed out. So glad the pup was okay!"
