'59th ACM Awards 2024': Internet claims Prime Video 'not the place' to stream biggest nights in country music
FRISCO, TEXAS: The 59th Academy of Country Music Awards took place on Thursday, May 16 at 8 pm ET at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
Reba McEntire headlined the event, which was streamed live for a worldwide audience of 240 countries on Amazon Prime Video and Twitch's Amazon Music channel. This prompted viewers to question the sudden shift to the streaming platform.
The event will be available post-show on Prime Video, Amazon's Music App, and for free on Amazon Freevee. On X, fans expressed their displeasure about the event being moved from TV to a streaming platform. One wrote, "Got to show off how dei yall are hu!!!! I ain’t watching none of it!!" Another fan asked, "Can’t get a major network anymore !? Speaks volumes…sad."

Some users asked, "I haven’t watched since the move to Prime, are there commercials?" One fan expressed disappointment saying, "Disappointed @ACMawards will not be aired on TV cable. Refuse to pay more money just to watch the #acms #ACMAwards on a streaming service. Sure would like to know who made the ridiculous decision not to share w/country music fans everywhere. Big mistake. @reba."
