LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'X-Men '97' Episode 4 was packed with an exciting array of Easter eggs and nods to the original animated series and comic books. The episode featured fan-favorites Jubilee and Storm, offering plenty of moments for fans to spot and enjoy.

The first part of the episode saw Jubilee celebrating her 18th birthday by getting trapped in a deadly video game created by the intergalactic producer Mojo. Sunspot, portrayed by Roberto Da Costa, joined her on this nostalgic journey.

Meanwhile, the second part focused on Storm, aided by X-Factor's Forge, weaving their stories together with ties to the comics. Here were some of the biggest Easter eggs and references spotted in 'X-Men 97' Episode 4. Let's take a look at some of them.

Classic X-Men arcade cabinet seen in 'X-Men '97'

During the showdown with Mojo in 'X-Men 97', the villain unexpectedly emerges from a classic X-Men arcade cabinet.

Surprisingly, it appears to be the exact same design as the real-life arcade cabinet that's been released for purchase alongside the show's debut on Disney+.

This special edition cabinet includes eight classic X-Men and Marvel arcade games from the 90s and early 2000s. It's pretty cool to see one featured in the actual show.

'X-Men '97' references the classic X-Men Konami game

Transforming into a 16-bit sidescroller, Jubilee and Sunspot's journey bears a striking resemblance to Konami's classic X-Men arcade game.

Battling Sentinels and other enemies while traversing iconic locations from the original animated series, such as Genosha, the Savage Land, and even Magneto's Asteroid M, the duo explores digitized versions of these settings.

This serves as a great homage to both the game and the original show simultaneously.

The Savage Land

In the prehistoric Savage Land level, Jubilee and Sunspot face off against Sauron, the pterodactyl man determined to rule over the realm. Sauron, a significant villain from the original X-Men series, makes a thrilling return, albeit briefly and in 16-bit form.

Over the years, Sauron has gained popularity and become the subject of memes, particularly after a conversation with Spider-Man where he admits he could cure cancer but prefers turning people into dinosaurs.

Forge’s comic book history is teased in 'X-Men 97'

In a surprising turn of events, it's revealed that Forge's designs were utilized to create the weapon responsible for stealing Storm's powers. Initially, Forge kept this secret from Ororo as a way to earn her trust while seeking redemption for his past involvement with the Defense Department.

This storyline mirrors the established history of Forge and Storm in the original comics, where their romance began. Whether this romance can also unfold on screen depends on whether Storm can forgive Forge for his actions and his dark past, where his inventions are now being used against mutants.

Spiral is Mojo's tech support

Once a romantic partner of Longshot and Mojo's chief lieutenant, Spiral appears to have undergone a significant change in X-Men '97 episode 4.

Following Mojo's ruthless act of killing his tech support team for failing to resolve a system bug, Spiral takes on the role of the entire tech support team single-handedly, thanks to her six arms.

However, there is no mention of Longshot's whereabouts despite Spiral's new role in 'X-Men 97.'

4 episodes of 'X-Men 97' are streaming on Disney+
