In 2020, Netflix shocked the world by releasing the Polish-Italian movie ‘365 Days’. Even though the movie met with a negative response, it turned out to be one of the most-watched movies on the platform. The movie faced a lot of backlash for its content and when it felt that the streaming service won’t repeat the mistake of making a movie like this, it just announced that a sequel is already in the works. Two years later, we are sitting in April 2022, and the sequel titled ‘365 Days: This Day’ has finally arrived on Netflix.

Despite being controversial, the first movie had some really good sequences and plot twists. Even though the second movie unravels a massive twist as soon as we reach the halfway mark, it falls short of doing anything special that would keep viewers hooked to the screens. So, the movie starts with a scene that you would expect it to start with: a sex scene. Massimo (Michele Morrone) and Laura (Anna-Maria Sieklucka) are getting married, but they find each other so irresistible that they decide to have sex just right before the wedding ceremony.

The couple gets married and once again viewers are treated to a steamy sex scene. Let’s just say that the first 20-22 minutes of the movie is 10 per cent dialogues and 90 per cent sex. Coming back to the movie, the chemistry between the lovers is now fading because they have returned to normalcy. Massimo is busy with his work, while Laura feels that there is passion left in their relationship. She tells Massimo that he can’t keep her in prison and stop her from doing what she wants to. However, he feels that he is protecting her from everything bad that comes with the Mafia business. But he shows his love by making her the owner of her own apparel company.

However, things go awry when Laura sees Massimo having sex with a girl. At this point in time, you’ll feel that something thrilling is on its way. However, it fades out when you see lazy writing. Seriously, the writers could have done so much with whatever they had in their hands, but the makers decided to just focus more on sex rather than the story.

As far as acting is concerned, Michele Morrone is good as Don Massimo. His poker face game is still going strong, but surprisingly, he has more emotions to show this time around and he does great work in showing that he is a talented artist. Meanwhile, Anna-Maria Sieklucka as Laura is still the soul of this franchise.

However, it’s Magdalena Lamparska’s portrayal of Olga that is definitely going to nab all the attention. She is funny, entertaining, and so effortless whenever she arrives on screen.

One of the main reasons that made the first movie so popular was the sex scenes and yes, the sequel has some explicit sex scenes that will satisfy viewers who just want to see an erotic thriller. Also, why would you insert a song after every 5-7 minutes? There are moments when a character says one line and there’s a song. No value was added to the movie.

If you were eagerly waiting for the sequel to arrive, you’ll be really disappointed with how they have handled the project. Meanwhile, if you just wanted to see the movie for “erotic stuff” that can be compared to soft pornography, then you might have some things to watch out for.

The first movie was immersed in controversies for promoting rape culture, but the second one will just be known for a bad story. If you still find yourself watching this, then have zero expectations.
