Similar incidents in 2018 and 2013
On October 17, 2018, a man "fell from a height" onto another woman at Westfield shopping center in Stratford, London. Both were taken to hospital by the London ambulance service. Neither person’s condition was life-threatening, but the woman’s injuries were believed to be life-changing, reports Metro. An anonymous witness said, "I was walking through the shopping center to get to the station when I saw the barriers. They landed right outside the food court, which is the busiest place. It didn’t look good at the scene, the ambulance crew weren’t in a rush, which is never a good sign." It was later reported the man who fell was arrested. A force spokesman said at that time, "The man, aged 24, was arrested at hospital on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and reckless endangerment of life." In 2013, two individuals were injured at the same shopping center after a man fell from the upper floor and landed on another, a BBC report noted.
