MIAMI, FLORIDA: In 1972, the Miami Dolphins went 14-0 in the regular season and won all three postseason games, including Super Bowl VII against the Washington Redskins, and finished with 17-0. It's 2022, now. But even after fifty years, they still remain the only NFL team to complete an entire season undefeated. Celebrating the feat, NFL posted a picture of Coach Don Shula during the Super Bowl win with the caption that read, “The #72Dolphins live on as the only undefeated team in NFL history!"

The 1972 Dolphins were led by Coach Shula, and featured six Hall of Fame players, including linebacker Nick Buoniconti, running back Larry Csonka, quarterback Bob Griese, center Jim Langer, guard Larry Little and wide receiver Paul Warfield, according to Miami Dolphins. Honoring the history of football, netizens too celebrated the accomplishment. One wrote, "50 years and counting. 1972 Miami Dolphins still undefeated and still unmatched." While another said, "POP THAT CHAMPAGNE 1972 MIAMI DOLPHINS!!!!!! No undefeated teams this season! Cheers to all the players, coaches, and staff still with us and those no longer with us." One more wrote, "The legend lives on."

The wishes continued to pour with one fan saying, "Congrats to the '72 Dolphins again! Still the greatest team ever, and best America's Game episode of all time." On the other hand, a few had a different take. A user wrote, "I know a lot of people might be happy the Eagles are (probably) gonna lose tonight, but I hate to think of the '72 Dolphins popping their champagne tonight." Another questioned, "In the year 2030 when there are 22 games in the regular season will they still celebrate?" One more said, "The 72 dolphins would lose by 40 to pretty much any team in the NFL today."
