CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA: A North Carolina teenager got himself into a tricky situation when he found himself trapped inside a claw machine at a local amusement park over the weekend. The incident took place around 2 pm on Sunday, April 16, at Carowinds Park, located in Charlotte. According to reports, the 13-year-old boy had crawled inside the Cosmic XL Bonus Game machine with the intent of stealing a prize but unfortunately got stuck inside.

The Cosmic XL Bonus Game is larger than the average claw game, standing at about 6.5 feet tall, nearly 5 feet wide, and 5 feet deep. Photos of the unusual incident were shared on Facebook by the Carowinds Fans Only page, showing the boy sitting inside the machine surrounded by staff members, a sheriff's deputy, and curious onlookers.

The boy is banned from the park for a year as punishment

The park officials promptly took action to resolve the situation by calling an emergency team to rescue the boy, which they were able to do shortly afterward. After being extracted from the claw machine, the boy was given first aid by the medical team on site. Once he was deemed to be okay, he was then handed over to his guardian. Although the boy was not charged for his actions, he was punished with a one-year ban from visiting the park.

'This looks like an April Fools joke'

People on the internet found the situation hilarious, and they took to the comments section to express themselves. "Immediate regret," one user wrote, followed by a laughing emoji. Another said, "This looks like an April Fools joke but sadly I’m sure it’s not! Oh wow!" while a curious user asked, "What was the prize he was trying to steal?" Meanwhile, one sarcastically advised, "Get out the same way you got in reverse."

In 2018, a similar occurrence took place at a restaurant in Florida when a young boy got trapped inside a claw machine while attempting to grab a stuffed toy, as reported by Daily Mail. Firefighters were called to the scene to rescue him from the machine. This incident, like the recent one in North Carolina, highlights the risks and consequences of attempting to illegally obtain prizes from claw machines.
