BEDFORD, OHIO: Following the explosions at a manufacturing plant in Bedford, Ohio, southwest of Cleveland, at least 14 people have been reported to have suffered injuries. According to reports, numerous ambulances responded to the injured people who were receiving treatment on the spot.

The massive explosions rocked the metal manufacturing facility at Oakwood village, sending debris flying, and damaging some surrounding cars. The Schumann & Co manufacturing complex had been engulfed in flames and many fire engines were putting off the massive fire. Firefighters had responded to a large explosion in the 22500 block of Alexander Road at around 2.30 pm local time, reports mentioned.

14 people received severe burns 

Intel Point Alert reported that Schumann & Co are producers of high-quality ingots and pellets. Moreover, the witness accounts reported debris scattered everywhere following the explosion. At least one person was severely burned while 13 others were also taken to hospital for injuries.



 

'Mass casualty scene'

"Witnesses have told me several people are injured after I. Schumann & Co. manufacturing plant exploded and caught fire," Molly Walsh Tweeted with pictures of the debris.  Some reports declared the plant explosion as a "mass causality scene" "Crews responding to the explosion, fire at Oakwood manufacturing plant Witnesses say the explosion occurred at the I Schumann & Co. metal and paint plant on Alexander Road. Details on possible injuries are not known at this time," Christi Paul of WKYC Tweeted. "BREAKING NEWS... "Mass Casualty Event" just declared in #Bedford, #Ohio after a MASSIVE EXPLOSION at Schumann & Co manufacturing plant. Reports of multiple people with severe burns. DEVELOPING... #BreakingNews #Schumann #MassCasualty," Steve Norris wrote.



 



 



 

Twinsburg Fire Department in Ohio wrote on Facebook alerting people to stay away from the fire scene, "Please be aware, there is a large fire scene in Walton Hills / Oakwood. Please stay away from Alexander Rd. near I-271. Please allow Fire and EMS crews to work."
