MOSCOW, IDAHO: Police are still looking for answers and trying to find the killer(s) behind the brutal slaying of four University of Idaho students that took place on November 13. Even after two weeks, authorities have been unable to find any major leads to track down the potential murderer(s) and the chances of finding solving the case were becoming slim, according to experts. However, that does not seem to be the case for web sleuths who time and again have continuously come up with theories based on the tragic incident.

The four students who lost their lives in the ordeal are Ethan Chapin, 20, of Conway, Washington; Madison Mogen, 21, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Xana Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, of Rathdrum, Idaho. There were two other roommates also present in the house at the time of the murders but fortunately, they escaped unharmed.

Out of the four victims, it was said that Kernodle had suffered defensive wounds on her body and had probably given the killer a hard time before she died. Authorities are also trying to find the killer's DNA or any other valuable information which can help them. It seems that Kernodle had also played a pivotal role in spooking the killer which could have saved the lives of the two surviving women, Bethany Funke and Dylan Mortensen.

A Reddit user has proposed a theory related to the case and said that Kernodle might have made a noise which scared the killer and prevented him from continuing his killing spree on the lower floors. "Just a thought maybe discussed here before, as it has been said one of the victims had defence wounds and it seems that victim was Xana", the Reddit user, who goes by the name u/Scary_Wolverine_7323 posted. "Could it be that she was the only victim to make a noise thus causing the killer to be 'spooked' and not continuing down to the lower floors. It would only make sense if she was the last victim which isn’t clear but could mean it wasn’t due to the other roommates not being part of the targeted act but more a crime of opportunity. Her response caused the killer to cut the killing short and to leave rather than continue," the user theorized.

Other users also seemed to agree with this theory. One user commented, "She likely woke up due to Ethan being attacked and she was probably attacked immediately upon waking and moving. This could explain why she may have had defensive wounds and others didn't, but it's impossible to say whether or not she verbally responded. Had the killer started at the top and intended to work down, it's possible that this fight back saved the lives of the surviving roommates."

Another user wrote, "Yes. I've heard unconfirmed theories that Ethan might not have been killed in bed. Maybe he heard the killer and got up to check what the noise was. He was caught off guard and killed. And then the killer went after Xana. She had time to realize what was happening and fought for her life." One simply acknowlewdged the Reddit user's speculation and wrote, "This is a good theory."

It now remains to be seen what happens in the upcoming days and if the police can track down the killer and solve the mystery behind the murders. Authorities had reportedly described the incident as a "crime of passion."
