In October 2016, just before the presidential election, it was revealed that Donald Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 to suppress allegations of an affair dating back to 2006.
Although Trump's spokespersons vehemently denied the affair and accused Daniels of spreading falsehoods, the story gained traction.
The details of the alleged affair were brought to light when In Touch Weekly magazine published a transcript of an interview with Daniels, recounting her year-long relationship with Trump, including a sexual encounter.
On March 6, 2018, Daniels initiated legal proceedings against Trump, contending that the non-disclosure agreement she had signed regarding the affair was void due to Trump's failure to sign it himself.
She also accused Trump's attorney of trying to intimidate her and prevent her from speaking out.
During a March 25, 2018, interview on CBS program '60 Minutes', Daniels revealed that she had met Trump in July 2006 at a celebrity golf tournament. She further revealed that they had dinner together in his hotel suite, where they allegedly engaged in a sexual encounter.
She also stated that she felt pressured to sign a non-disclosure agreement after being threatened in front of her daughter.

Stormy's first marriage was to Pat Myne, which ended after two years in 2005. Subsequently, she married Mike Moz in 2007, but this marriage also lasted only two years.
