LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Boys' Season 4 is all set to release on Prime Video on Thursday, Jun 13.

The teaser trailer for 'The Boys' Season 4 from Prime Video introduces Jeffrey Dean Morgan, known for his role as Negan in 'The Walking Dead'. He appears alongside Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), sparking curiosity about his character.

In the teaser, Morgan's character appears to criticize Butcher for his team being called 'The Boys', hinting at a new dynamic. Initially considered for Season 3, Jeffrey Dean Morgan's involvement was delayed due to his commitments with 'The Walking Dead: Dead City'.

We think he may be featured prominently in Season 4, potentially appearing in most episodes. But who is Jeffrey Dean Morgan playing in 'The Boys' Season 4?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan could potentially play Joe Kessler, aka Monkey from 'The Boys' comics

According to various sources, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is set to portray Joe Kessler, also known as Monkey in the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

However, it's worth noting that TV series often diverge from the source material, so Kessler's portrayal may differ from the show.

The comics, in case you weren't aware, depict Kessler as a CIA analyst who works for the government.

He appears in the first issue of the series and is Butcher’s hook-up to meeting Wee Hughie — and overall, appeared in 22 issues of the comics.

But unlike Morgan, he’s a nervous coward terrified of nearly everything. This stems back to how he got his nickname: he was r***d in both ears by AIDS-infected monkeys.

In the books, Monkey also has a fetish for women in wheelchairs, because everyone in the books has a very specific and unique fetish. Whether that will play out in the show at all is unknown.

'The Boys' showrunner Eric Kripke speaks on Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character

Fans are eagerly awaiting 'The Boys' Season 4, hoping for more clashes between Butcher and Homelander, and excited for Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s debut in the show.

Morgan, known for his role in 'Supernatural', has a history with showrunner Eric Kripke, who has brought several 'Supernatural' alumni to the Prime Video series. When Morgan's casting was announced, fans speculated on which character he would portray.

Although fans often imagined Morgan as Tek Knight, Kripke clarified to Entertainment Weekly that this wasn’t the case. "Once we thought of the character he plays, we knew Jeff would be perfect for it," he hinted.

Kripke remains tight-lipped about Morgan’s role but revealed, "He’s an old colleague of Butcher’s."
