'The Sea Beast', Netflix’s newest animated movie is an epic seafaring adventure that tells the story of Jacob Holland, a legendary sea monster hunter whose life is turned upside down when a young girl, Maisie Brumble, stows away on his ship and finds an unlikely friend in a terrifying sea monster. The animated movie is directed by Academy Award-winning director Chris Williams who has also worked on 'Moana', 'Big Hero 6' and 'Bolt'.

'The Sea Beast' will be available to watch globally on Netflix on Friday, July 8. The official synopsis from Netflix reads: “In an era when terrifying beasts roamed the seas, monster hunters were celebrated heroes — and none were more beloved than the great Jacob Holland. But when young Maisie Brumble stows away on his fabled ship, he’s saddled with an unexpected ally. Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Karl Urban was introduced to New Zealand cinema and the film industry through his mother. His first acting role was at age eight, when he had a single line in one episode of the New Zealand television series 'Pioneer Woman'. He then enrolled at Victoria University of Wellington in the Bachelor of Arts program but left after one year to pursue a career in acting.

Urban's first Hollywood role was in the 2002 horror film 'Ghost Ship'. Later, he became part of many high-profile movies, such as the second and third installments of 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, 'The Bourne Supremacy', 'The Chronicles of Riddick', 'Star Trek' and 'Doom'. From 2013-2014, Karl Urban starred in the television show 'Almost Human' as Detective John Kennex. In 2017, he played Skurge in 'Thor: Ragnarok'. Since 2019, Urban has starred as William "Billy" Butcher in the Amazon Prime series 'The Boys'. Karl Urban was one of several actors being considered for the part of British secret service agent 007 in 'Casino Royale', directed by fellow New Zealander Martin Campbell.
