LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Episode 3 of 'Presumed Innocent' on Apple TV+ upends the world of Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal), as he discovers a shocking truth linking his son Kyle Sabich (Kingston Rumi Southwick) to the horrific murder of Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve).

David E Kelley's creative brainchild, the show is based on Scott Turow's book of the same name and follows the story of Rusty, a prosecutor who finds himself on the wrong side of the law after his secret lover and colleague Carolyn is murdered.

However, Rusty is seen maintaining his innocence and struggling to gather evidence. During one such effort, he stumbles upon a shocking discovery that has the potential to alter the course of the case.

The show's third episode, 'Discovery,'  ends on a cliffhanger where Rusty discovers that his son Kyle was actually around Caroyln's house the day she was murdered.

In the episode, Rusty discovers that his blackmailer is none other than Carolyn's son, Michael Caldwell (Tate Birchmore).

Michael informs Rusty that he has photographic evidence proving Rusty was at Carolyn's house on the day she was killed and that he gave this evidence to Rusty's rival, Tommy Molto (Peter Sarsgaard).

Tommy was reluctant to give the evidence to Rusty and Raymond Horgan (Bill Camp), but he ultimately complied with the judge's order.

Later, while analyzing the evidence, Rusty discovers the shocking fact that his son was indeed present around Carolyn’s house on the night of the murder.

This new revelation could drastically alter the plot, as now Rusty has to fight to prove his son's innocence in addition to his own.

Is Kyle Sabich responsible for Carolyn Polhemus's murder?

Although it is still too soon to conclude that Kyle is the murderer of Carolyn, it is possible that he witnessed something related to Rusty that could be significant.

As shown in Episode 3, Kyle asked his father if he would accept a guilty plea deal if offered, which sent Rusty into a tailspin.

However, with the new information of Kyle being present at the murder scene, the dynamics of the case have significantly shifted.

It's plausible that he saw his father murder Carolyn, which is why he inquired about accepting the guilty plea offer.

Whether Kyle witnessed something critical or is concealing his connection to the victim, his secret could be the missing piece the investigation desperately needs.

Will his truth help to clear Rusty's name, or will it lead the case in an unexpected direction? The answer will only be revealed in the next episode of the show.
