LONDON, ENGLAND: According to the Mirror, Iain Stirling gets paid £100,000 every season on the long-running dating program, 'Love Island' in which players search for love in a Spanish villa.

"I show up, watch the show, think of some funny things to say, and then speak over people having sex with each other," he stated to The Sun.

"I get to go to Majorca for six weeks and chill. I never thought my life would come to this, but it has. It’s brilliant. I really enjoy it."

How did Iain Stirling land the 'Love Island's narrator gig?

Iain turned down  'Love Island' before being convinced to accept the role. He came on 'Sunday Brunch' in 2019 and chatted with hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer about how he was picked to narrate the show and how he constantly declined.

"I said no loads of times. I'm not really a reality TV guy, really — I never really got into it," he said. "It films in June/July, which is so silly when you're a new comedian. It's just before the Edinburgh Fringe Festival."

This is also where he was originally headhunted, according to his housemate (and fellow comic) Phil Wang.

"He sort of said to me, 'Surely the reason you go to the festival is to get jobs like this.' And I've done it, and I've never looked back."

In a 2017 interview with The Telegraph, Iain also expressed concern that if he accepted the post, he would not be taken seriously.

"I didn't want to do it at first. I thought the broadsheets and Radio 4 wouldn't take me seriously if I was the voice of a reality TV show," he added. "Ironically, this is now the reason why these people want to talk to me."

Iain Stirling's love for shoes puts 'Love Island' narrator in debt

Iain has quipped that he is in debt due to his love of shoes. The 'Love Island' narrator stated that he was attempting to increase his overdraft from £5,000 to £8,000 when the person on the phone inquired whether he was "the guy from 'Love Island'."

Admitting he was, Iain told the Mail On Sunday that it was a "brutal" moment, but that his reason for the prolonged overdraft was simple: "I like shoes."
